 Charlie and Ethan loved playing with their cousin Sabra at the beach.

And their new cousin, Westin was happy watching them jump in the waves.

We also took them on a suspended hot air balloon ride at The Great Park.

Holly was not thrilled to be that high in the air...

soccer saturdays

Soccer season is in full swing.

Because this coach takes the game seriously, Saturdays can be either be a real high or a real low...

He doesn't look happy to be playing at all...

*he loves listening to the "bad guy" story in the car (david & goliath cd)

*he carries his lunch box to charlie's school every day, hoping they will let him in

*he tells me he's "u-per hung-ey"... a lot

*he likes looking for worms and snails on our walks

*after kindergarten drop off, he said, "Is cha-he going to be gone an u-per long time?"

*he loves costco hot dogs

*he's the only 3-year-old playing football at the park with the big kids

*he asked me for ketchup with his waffle (I knew he meant syrup!)

*he gave me one of his potty candies after I went and said, "I'm sharing with my friends!"

*he gets stopped by strangers admiring his curls.  A lady at the grocery store exclaimed, "Look at him!  He's like a cherub!"  Yep...

*he pretends he's surfing by standing on the boogie board

*when he jumps in the pool, he jumps with conviction

*he loves kisses, hugs, and sugar at bedtime

first day of kindergarten

In California, school starts after Labor Day.  

It made the summer feel long, but I'm sure we will be wishing school was done in May, come June...

The other difference from Arizona is that kindergarten is half day here.

We are happy to have been assigned the morning time!  {8:10-11:35}

The night before the first day of school, we walked to the school to see who Charlie's teacher was [Mrs. Ericson], we read this book, and we prayed for him and his first day.

We live so close to the school.  It's about a 5 minute walk, which I am so thankful for!

Charlie wanted to wear his USC shirt on the first day.

So, Ethan wanted to wear his.

Ethan also wanted to bring his lunchbox (which was empty) and even attempted to stand in the kindergarten line...

We love how adventurous our Charlie is.

This summer, he wanted to take surf lessons SO BADLY, but all the surf schools near us started at 6 years old.  But, when we went to San Diego, we found a surf school that took 5 year olds!

Then, last week at our lake/camping trip, he got to try waterskiing!

By the end of the week, he could loop around the whole lake.

GO CHARLIE!

When you spend time with your family in San Diego for practically a month, you really do feel like you're Missing In Action...

The cousins could not have been happier to spend spend so much time together.

Ethan is still asking to go back to "YaYa's house".

Moo Time is missing our business.

I'm sure Sunday concerts in the park are missing a little flair.

And we are definitely back to 'real life'...
