turkey treats

I found these turkey treats on a website and thought they looked easy enough.
It would be a good 'day before Thanksgiving' project with Charlie.
I was surprised that he could actually make them.
I guess I was expecting him to be eating the ingredients and watching as I made them.
Don't get me wrong... many turkey 'parts' were still consumed in the making.
And, yes that is a turkey apron.
I saw it at one of my favorite stores and thought, "we need this."
Ethan got one too. But his served a different purpose during the project as more of a giant bib.
I'm sure next year Ethan will want to join in the melted chocolate goodness.

The final result is definitely 2 year old approved.
And don't worry family members who will be offered these adorable turkey treats tomorrow:
I made him wash his hands before assembling and the one he is licking did not get put back in the bunch.

making carmel apples = sticky mess

Charlie loves helping me in the kitchen: stirring, adding ingredients, etc.
I thought carmel apples would be a fun project & it was fun to make (and sneak bites of carmel) but the end result was a sticky mess. I forgot Charlie doesn't like the apple peel, so his cut up carmel apple had the carmel cut off... sad! My friend Julie from MOPS had made a suggestion to use a melon baller to make mini apples and dip those in carmel for the kids. I will be trying that out next year.
