Preschool has started.
Charlie loves it and it looks like so much fun that I told him I wanted to go and he said, "Mama's can't go to preschool! But, maybe if you get a little shorter you can go..."
Last week we went for orientation to meet his teacher and see the classroom and he was so excited to go then that he kept saying, "Hurry, mom. Class is starting!" I didn't have the heart to tell him we were only staying 15 minutes that day.
The classroom is bright and cheerful with fun hands-on stations and their daily schedule and curriculum really does look creative.
I actually want to volunteer to help (even though it's not required). Ok, I'm getting a little ahead of myself... ask me that again in a few weeks.
A few things I like [so far] are:
1. His teacher emails us ahead of time what their weekly schedule is and writes on a whiteboard outside the door what they learned every day in class, so I know what to ask him about!
2. Each kid is assigned a job for the day such as line leader, light turner-off-er, snack helper, or prayer leader.
3. He has already made new friends. (When preschool started he asked which friends were going to be in his class, and I had to explain that it would be all new friends and that we are friends with everyone, just like Jesus was friends with Zacchaeus...)
4. When I go to pick him up, all the kids are sitting on their circle rug and can't get up until their parent taps them on the shoulder. (completely reduces the chaos at pick up time and Charlie thinks it's a game so he 'hides' his face in the rug to make it harder for me to find him.)
5. Ethan and I get some one-on-one time, which includes a Little Gym class while Charlie's at school. More about that in another post. I literally witnessed my first baby temper-tantrum when it was time to leave last week...
