Just wanted to post an official update that Stella got to go home Saturday!
This hospital stay was just shy of 8 weeks and Miss Stella has surely made herself known at Phoenix Children's Hospital!
My dad sent out an email thanking everyone for their prayers and supports. He wrote, "God is pleased when His people pray." Amen to that! I hope our family and all of our friends were a testimony to all of her medical team with our steadfast faith and perseverance in prayer.
One of my friends took her son to their ER and mentioned Stella and even the ER nurse said, "oh, I know Stella!"
We were so relieved that her last plication surgery to clip her left diaphram (that was paralyzed) was the answer to avoid getting a tracheostomy. My number one prayer was for Stella to be able to breathe on her own and thankfully, her third and final extubation had all of us breathing easier!

Cara and David are home now, but have a long road ahead. All of us moms who complained about sleepless nights with our newborns... I think Cara has us beat. I talked to her Sunday morning after their first night at home and she sounded exhausted. She said Stella is going through withdrawls from being on pain meds and sedation meds for so long and even though the doctors have her on a wean, she is still symptomatic. And, they got sent home with a dreadful pulse oximeter to monitor her O2 sats while she's asleep and Cara said it alarmed all night. (They are sensitive to movement and those 'false alarms' are still as loud as the real ones.)
This message was originally intended for Stella, but now I think it applies to her parents as well:
