mercy = forgiveness that's undeserved
matthew 5:7 "blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."

ways to show mercy:
- when i see a person in need- try to meet their needs
- fully forgive
- give understanding, rather than judgement
- be merciful toward the character of others, realizing we all have different personalities and temperments. if someone is weak, support them. if someone is insecure, affirm them. (i realize i definitely need to work on this area)
love how the msg says it for colossians 3:12-15
"so, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. be even tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. and regardless of what else you put on, wear love. it's your basic, all-purpose garment. never be without it."
