It seems like we just started swim lessons and I'm amazed at Charlie's progress.
He started off in beginner survival, where the main goal was to float on his back for 10 seconds. Then, he moved up to intermediate survival that he just passed!
To graduate from this level he had to:
1. dive down to get a ring and come to the surface to float for 10 seconds (which is what he demonstrated on the news a few weeks ago- he loves going under the water...)
2. jump in and turn around in the water and then using 'superman' arms, kick back to the wall
3. change his arm position while floating on his back from 'airplane' to 'superman' and then turn over in the water and swim to the steps.
Swimkids does such a good job in recognizing kids for their achievements.
When Charlie passed his level, he got to ring the bell and all the classes stopped to yell "hip, hip, hooray!"
So, now- he's moved up to Jr. Bronze where the goal is to swim the full length of the pool in his clothes. I know the objective is water safety and making sure he is comfortable even if he were to fall in... but this should be interesting!
