Scenerio:  

Charlie has a bucket and shovel.  Mom teaches him to pick up sand and put it it bucket.  Charlie figures out (on his own) that it's more fun to throw sand in the air...airplane flies by.  Charlie stops what he's doing to point.  He won't let one fly by without making note of it.   Back to sand throwing...
