Turns out I won the bet, but with a lot of YaYa's help. I stood in the (*long*) line while Charlie played elsewhere and she brought him right before it was time. She bribed him with a chocolate Santa for him to get after he sat on his lap. We walked up and talked to Santa before trying the lap sitting. The final picture included Charlie doing his cheesy smile and Ethan looking like a double chinned (rein)deer caught in the headlights:
