hoops of hope

Last night we got to go to a silent auction/benefit dinner for:
Hoops For Hope
We had to leave early because our kids were camped out over at my bro's house, but it was incredible to witness the amazing effect one elementary school kids' heart has had. As was said last night, "There are not many times in our life when we are a part of something that changes the world." Chris & I talk a lot about the Gutwein family because we desire to be like them in some way. When he was Austin's children's pastor- he remembers listening to Austin's dream: to help raise money for aids orphans by doing what he loves (basketball). Even Chris thought he had sweet intentions, he didn't expect the overwhelming response. What we love is that Austin's parents were sensitive to his heart, supported his passion and really got behind his dream to the point where big things are now happening. And somehow despite all the recognition, Austin's 15 year old self remains humble (now, how did his parents affect that?) Here's an interview with our man, Austin. We can't wait for Charlie & Ethan to be old enough to participate in the free-throws on World Aid's Day (although Charlie would probably argue that he can make baskets NOW...)
