resurrection eggs

We incorporated these eggs into our latest FWN.
They are geared towards older kids, but we toddlerized them.
Resurrection Eggs, English & Spanish Text, Updated -
After we read the Easter story in his Bible, we created a mini egg hunt in the family room and then I would call out a color for Charlie to open and we repeated the story with the symbols.
Each egg has a symbol inside that tells the story of Jesus' death (such as a crown of thorns, cross, and the final egg is empty- just like His tomb.)
And I just ordered this book about a "young boy follows Jesus through Jerusalem, collecting mementos to share with others and to remind him of Jesus's teachings."
Benjamin's Box: The Story of the Resurrection Eggs [Book]

(so...oops. I bought one more book for our Easter collection this year...)
Last year my MOPS group made our own resurrection eggs and I found this blog that gives instructions. I also love how they placed the verses on their 'Easter tree'. [something to consider for next year.] We never know how much Charlie is retaining, but last night our repetition proved to be heard/understood. Charlie offered to pray at the end of our family time and he prayed the usuals: "Thank you for Mama, Dada, and E-fan and for this snack." And then, he prayed, "And thank you Jesus that you died."
