We got a call yesterday asking if Charlie could come show his mad-swimming skills at his swim school for the news.
Showcasing my cutie on local t.v.?
Yes, please!
The catch?
We had to be there EARLY... (I mean 5:30 a.m. early.)
My rationale in agreeing to this was that Charlie has been waking up early anyway due to the early sunrise and he's usually easy-going and cooperative (which is probably more why his swim instructor wanted him than his swim skills...)
Chris warned me that it could very much backfire.
I opened Charlie's bedroom door at 5 a.m. to try to wake him up. He shut the door and went back to his bed. Then, I had to actually go in his room and physically wake him up. He just said, "I want to stay in my bed."
Uh oh.
I put him in his p.j.'s in the car and played his favorite music and brought his favorite snack. Thankfully, he woke up on the car ride and was happy to see our destination was swim class.
And of course when Coach Bryan asked Charlie if he was ready to get in the water (@ 5:30 am, mind you), he shouted, "YES!!!"
His cute voice and enthusiasm must have caught the attention of the news anchor because she ended up mentioning him by name at the end of the newscast.
Charlie's minute of fame was his demonstration of diving down to get a ring and then coming up to the surface and floating in 'airplane' position:
Despite his early morning moodiness, he turned out to be so cooperative, so we went to Dunkin Donuts after for a special treat. We had to send the crowd begging for autographs away- ha, ha!
