jonah

Since our most recent FWN's focused on Jesus' resurrection, we decided to give up chronological order and just study Jonah next, because it's a great story. (Actually, it worked out for us to make reference to Jesus being in the tomb for 3 days, like Jonah was in the belly for 3...) For our activity, we re-inacted the story with Charlie being Jonah. We tried to blindfold him, but that didn't last long. We put him in a 'boat' and made the wind/waves noises. We sprayed him with a spray bottle of water to indicate the rain, and flashed the lights for lightning. We 'threw' him out of the boat and had a big fish swallow him up. We had him feel what it was like in the belly of the fish (the slimy cold spaghetti). And we spit him up to dry land. He thought it was hilarious and wanted us each to play the part of Jonah (mostly because he wanted to use the spray bottle...). It was fun to tell the story using different senses and I'm sure he will wake up tomorrow and squirt me with that spray bottle first thing!
