Poor Ethan.
He's been deprived, I have to say. Since Charlie was born in March, he got a lot of pool time that spring/summer when he was just an infant. And, even though Ethan was born in July- we didn't take him in the pool last summer (probably having something to do with me not ready to sport a swimsuit) but he was deprived none the less.
& now, Charlie is in swim lessons [which he LOVES]. He actually just moved up a level from beginning survival to intermediate because he is now able to float for 10 seconds and jump in the water and turn to his back to float. But poor Ethan. He has been sitting on the sidelines with me just watching. The past few lessons, I've had to bring extra entertainment. He just keeps flapping his arms as if he wants to splash in the water and he screeches in protest that he is not in the water.
So, today- we let him in!
We went to Val Vista Lakes for a family swim and let that boy flap his arms in the water.
We were worried that he might be self conscious with his chubby belly in a swim suit, but he didn't seem to mind the stares.
It turns out, he likes splashing but prefers just being a lounge lizard in the baby float. Figures.
(side note: Ethan ended up pooping in his cloth swim diaper confirming my decision to NOT USE CLOTH DIAPERS on a daily basis... and question to you cloth mama's out there: Do you ever hose off the nastiness in your backyard? That worked for me today.)
(side note number 2: Not only did Ethan poop in the pool, but Charlie swam so hard- he ended up puking in the pool. And there was a boy with a bloody nose. That's when it was time to go.)
